BABY BUNDLE - INTRODUCING ANDERS

Anders loved to be cuddled and swaddled in. The day we did these photos he was only one week old and unfortunatly he was not thrilled about being naked regardless of the efforts we put in to make him comfortable. Having said that we still managed to get these nice shots of him.

I am presently working on another album of Anders from that same day that I will release later on. It is a session I am looking forward to and is really cute. In that portion of the session we laid Anders on my new baby bed prop, so be sure to watch for it.

This little Valentine was easy to get photos of- she simply played with her little makeup mirror and the tutu itself and every now and looked up at me. She really was adorable wearing her well used and worn and tutu made by "Shameless Accessories". There are so many more photos from this session, it was hard to choose which ones to show you.

This was a cold windy winter evening in December. We did this session just as it was turning dark outside and managed to get some nice shots of these two brothers and their little sister. Thank you Tahni for coming along with me and most of all for helping to pack the gear around for me. I really did appreciate it.

Hope this family, love the shots we got of them that evening. They were great to work with and the entire session was lots of fun. It was great to meet them all. :)

NO.3 - LAST WILL & TESTAMENT - UNLOCKING THE BOX

Fall is here and the next long trek needs to be taken in order to find the last location on the map before snow falls. The last clue fills in the missing information on the map and now she has the key she will need.

Just before night fall, it finally all ends when she finds a box buried in the ground that the key opens. Inside are the willed items, that noone had been successful in finding so many years earlier. What an exciting journey this has taken her on.

This past year has been an incredible year for me. It has been one that has been full of fun sessions. Most of my sessions have been outdoors as I love working with natural light and all it has to offer, but towards the later part of the year I decided to go with studio sessions as well, because of the limitations the seasons bring us in Alberta, and mostly because of babies first year. Every baby is faced with about 6 months of possibly challenging weather for some of their first year sessions. I also love the gentle light the studio can offer and am very excited as to all that it will bring. I am constantly learning new and fun things and really look forward to trying these new things out on some of my sessions.

Best of all, I have had the pleasure of working with so many fun, interesting and enjoyable people and I really look forward to all of my 2012 clients as well. Thank you to all of my 2011 clients and welcome to all of my new ones.

I am excited about all of my upcoming pre-booked sessions and am really looking forward to them all and all of what they will bring for me, the client and also for you my viewers...

I look forward to the courses I will be taking this year. It is always fun learning new techniques and meeting new people that love doing what I love to do.

May you all have an a very Happy New Year and enjoy all of what 2012 brings to you.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of my clients for the privilege to do your sessions. Well this was a fun session!!! Relying on the help of a three year old to get his sister to simply sit on the box and hold a teddy bear beside him. Too funny. I had a hard time to pick which ones to edit. There were so many that were so funny that it still makes me laugh. Too cute...

ENGAGEMENT - BRANDI & MAX (SPORTING THEIR HOCKEY JERSEYS)

This couple wanted to do part of their engagement session sporting their hockey jerseys. They both love hockey and it is just one of their many shared interests. They had fun their entire session and even decided to lay down in the snow and make some snow angels towards the end of their session. We had alot of fun getting these shots even though it was pretty cold out. They will thaw out and it will be a whole lot hotter in Mexico where they are planning their 2012 spring wedding to take place. Hope you both have a fabulous time down there.

ENGAGEMENT - BRANDI & MAX

I have known Brandi since she was a baby and I was thrilled when she contacted me to do her engagement photos. Her and Max met in Edmonton and she choose to do the photos in Edmonton, around the grounds at the university where the couple had spent a fair amount of time while they were dating. The walk way was in front of the apartment building Brandi had lived in while going to university and they wanted some photos with their labradoodles, Inuk and Jasper as well. The location they chose was good because of its memories for them, seeing as they recently bought and moved into their own new home. They truly were a pleasure and easy going to work with.

It was great to see Brandi again and to meet her fiance Max. I wasn't surprised at all that Max, like Brandi was full of smiles and he was quite a comedian at times making both Brandi and I laugh. This definately made for some gorgeous shots of this couple...

This family had lots of fun at this pretty park in St. Albert close to the parents home. It was a location they chose because of what the park had to offer with all the pretty fall colors. Their newest little addition to the family was truly a family attraction. She was a real little cutie that afternoon for sure.

Some of this baby's session was done with her laying on top of a little quilt, given to her as a gift from one of her mom's friends. The quilt added some incredible color in comparison to some of the other gentlers shots. These are photos that will definately be part of this baby's and her parents keepsakes for sure.

NOW MOLLY IS and HAS A SISTER

Wow Molly is, and now has a sister. She now has someone to play with, share with, learn with, laugh with, grow with, someone to blame and best of all someone to love. Oh the memories they will share...

When the mom mentioned to me that the girls grandmother had suggested putting the newborn sleepers onto the dolls and taking a photo of them with the baby, I told her to bring her dolls along for the session and we would do just that.

It ended up being a fabulous session and these photos will now always have a lot of meaning to this family. The monkeys were gifts for the girls and mean alot to them and the tall dark baby was given to them from their other grandmother.

DUPLESSIS FAMILY (IN STUDIO)

Initially when this young family was setting up their appt it was somewhat challenging, because of the available weekends and then the concern was the cold weather and whether or not we'ld be able to get some of the photos we had originally discussed. We made the decision that if it was cold we would do a major portion indoors at my place and we would change it up and do only a few outside. These ended up being the ones we were able to take indoors. While mommy was feeding their new baby, I captured some great shots of the oldest daugher with her daddy. She is her daddy's little girl. Love these photos...

DUPLESSIS FAMILY (OUTDOORS)

This young family was happy to be set free from their studio session they had just had indoors. Little Molly had fun outside and we captured some goregous outside and very different types of natural light shots.

Outside photos are almost always fun to do, because of the space given for children to run and play, which is obviously evident in these shots.

Hope everyone can appreciate as much as I do, the fact that although it was minus 16 we still managed to get some great shots outside too. These shots did not take very long and were totally worth it.

We had our grandchildren this summer some time and they were enjoying themselves out here on the acreage in the backyard. It was a lot of fun watching them play. They really were all over the map and couldn't decide what was best thing to play with...flowers or frogs.

This little boy recently got a new guitar and just started taking guitar lessons. He was pretty excited to use the guitar in some of these photos. It was a fun filled afternoon for him for sure. MIKE & LEAH - 3RD ANNIVERSARY

Mike & Leah were married three years this fall. Leah had emailed me wanting a session with some anniversary photos taken that would show some of their accomplishments in the first years of their marriage. When I arrived at their property, it was very visible that these two have worked very hard as a couple, in order to have achieved all of what they have so far. I personally thought it was very impressive. You could also tell they not only love their home and property but they also love their dog Bailey and Leah's horse King. Leah mentioned she had been around horses ever since she was four years old and you could tell King means alot to her. She had even given him a bath for these photos. Hope you both enjoy these photos for many years to come...

DAVE, ANIK & GAVIN (FIELD SIGN SERIES)

When I suggested this idea to Anik she expressed that she really loved it. She mentioned that they were game in making the signs and bringing them along to their session. Anik chose the words that would have the most meaning to this young couple/family and Dave ended up being the artistic one in the actual creation of the signs. You could tell that they enjoyed the entire process. Their involvement with the signs made it that much more enjoyable for us all. I absolutely love these photos and feel that they will treasure them for many years to come. When the session was over, I graciously accepted their donation of the signs to my prop collection for others to use. So thanks to the both ofyou for that. I will be happy to use them again as I personally love the size and the way Dave designed and finished them. You two and your little guy were truly a pleasure to spend the evening with doing these photos.

Congratulations Anik on winning this session...

When I contacted Anik to let her know she had won the last of the 2010 summer's, free photo session draws, she was thrilled!!! Her & her husband had just had, a brand new baby boy three months earlier, and she decided right away to do their first family photo session.

After talking to her, she was totally open to any suggestions. In thinking about their session, I called her back a couple days later, to let her know what some of my ideas were. She really thought the idea of the hippy van was a cute one and was all for it, if I could get it organized and arranged. That was the easy part. Now I had to get permission from the van owner and then after that also have a little driving lesson as well, in order to be able to drive it around that night. The owner (J.P.) agreed and delivered it to my place the night before the session and did the tutorial. I had a blast in that little van and also got a lot of attention in it when I drove around in town that night. It kind of made me wonder if it might be a good option for my next type of vehicle for this photography business. Haha...

Thank you J.P. for agreeing to let me use it... You were a total sweet heart and it was so nice to experience your trusting generosity.

And as far as this photo session of Anik & Dave with their new little son, I am sure they will smile when they look at these photos for many years to come. We all had a great time and a lot of fun doing them. Dave was fantastic in helping me out as a prop man too. Thanks to you both!!!

GAVIN - THREE MONTHS OLD

This little fella looked so cute in these suitcases, wearing his little cap and Etnies runners, which had been given to him by his uncle. The blue blanket was made by his Great Grandma. It is one that means alot to their family and will be a keep sake for many years to come. Gavin's parents also brought along the shelf ornament that spelled out his name that had been made by his grand father and his little stuffed animal was from a great aunt.

MY NEW PROP (AN OLD FASHIONED BED)

When I mentioned I had recently bought a new bed to use as a photography prop, Chaunce & Tahni wanted to be the first ones to have photos done on it. They all thought it was pretty neat, setting it up outside. There was some giggling and smiles for sure. D & W were full of play and in this session they did just that, which ended up making for some memorable playful shots. They thought it was a little trampoline, something you could drive or sail and at some point it looked like they even thought it would fly... I am sure they will remember this session and these photos will make them smile for many years to come. I think they are pretty cute and these shots already are some of my own personal "treasure box memories".

This new prop (bed and even a few different choices in bedding) will be available for clients booking a session with me and wishing to use it. It also has a back bar that raises up yet another approximately three feet that can totally change the look of the bed. Fabrics can be draped from the bars etc. I really do look forward to using this prop again, as there are so many possibilities in how/where it could be used. Whether it be used for playfull or more calm type of sessions, they all will be unique.

Tracy was very excited when she learned she had won a free photo session from having "Liked" my "MJ Edwards Photography" Facebook page. It was the third free summer draw out of four that I was doing as a promotion for my new Facebook page sporting my photography for people to see and be able to easily link to my blog. She chose to do a "couple's" session, and was happy to have me come up with some suggestions as to what they could do. I was excited because I knew there were these great locations right here in our little town that I had been wanting to use. This couple was a lot of fun to spend time with and enjoyed this entire session. Probably because of the slurpy and ice cream they got to eat. ODIN & his boy TYSON

A family from Fort Saskatchewan, vacationing in Jasper were pleased to have me take some photos of their son Tyson and his dog Odin.

I have always loved to see and watch interactions between little children and their pets. For these photos no words are required to describe the strong bond between them. When I was taking them I thought the dog almost appeared as though he had the same expressions as Tyson. Love these photos. I hope you enjoy them whenever you look back on them!!!

WILLOW'S BABY CARRIAGE RIDE

I have been wanting an old carriage as a prop for a long time now, so was thrilled when I finally found this one. It is a 1980's vintage pram, that I now have on hand for anyone wishing to use it in their own session with me. I have done some different color edits on the actual pram to change it up for your viewing pleasures. I would like to mention that photography is a great consideration as a baby gift.

On another note, putting the prop information aside these particular photos will definately be treasured for years to come. I just love these ones of Willow...

MIKE & DEBBIE

Mike & Debbie wanted to do their photo session out on their farm. Arriving there I was taken back at how beautiful it was. The landscape, scenary and especially their yard with so many flowers and a large vegetable garden overflowing with even more flowers was gorgeous. This country location was a great choice for this couple, as you could tell they were totally in their element and loved being there. Debbie was prepared with all the props we had discussed beforehand, all loaded up in their gattor. I felt like I was on a little tour guide and best of all it was a great way to get from location to location. This session was alot of fun even though it started off with Debbie being a little scared of heights. Regardless, she still was gain to go up in the barn loft. The weather cooperated allowing for some great laying down poses in the field, being some of my favorites along with so many other photos from this session, which will be enjoyed for years to come. It was a pleasurable time doing these photos for this couple...

When Bev had discovered that she was my June Facebook promotional draw winner, she was very excited. In talking with her to determine where we should do the session, she choose their cabin at Calling Lake. This is where they spend so much of their time in the summer months. When I asked her what she would like to get out of the session, she was just happy to have me suggest some ideas to her as she said she wasn't very creative herself. She was gain to do whatever and had no expectations in particular. Her and Greg were easy to work with and best of all Willing to get wet!!! We all had alot of fun doing this session. This senior was fabulous to photograph. Her family made the best of the pouring rain and fortunately they had an overhanging deck that we used in order to get several shots on as well. Thank goodness the rain did let up occaisionally, and we were able to get some gorgeous shots out on their lawn. Joe was my July draw winner. He ended up doing a top up to his win, in order to accommodate his entire family who were all home that weekend. They were there to see the new baby (Emry), their daughter and son-in-law (Jerrica & Michael) had just had a week earlier.
